1) what's new—web site renovation in process
Most of the aatideas.org web site is now migrated to 'xht' filetypes to improve web browsing, and also to present content more accessibly to certain mobile or handheld device platforms.
As web standards further develop, and as browsers further improve, the web site can be rendered best with a recent- or current-version modern XHTML and CSS-ready browser. Those using a legacy browser (pre-XHTML) can select from a growing number of XHTML browsers that can be obtained at no charge from various third-parties.
2) AAT technology timeline*—compendium of progress in web and PDF formats
Browse through a concise yet comprehensive history of technology on the web, or print the PDF documents to set up a display to metric specifications.
*Visit the AAT retrospect at 'http://www.aatideas.org/tech/0.xht' for an AAT technology timeline of 10 000 years of civilization. The overview of technology history is presented via the New Calendar (NC) timeline, a metric timeline that is one component of the Integrated Chronological Applications System (ICAS) described below.
3) AAT ICAS metric-time initiative*—ICAS_now software kit update
the most recent ICAS_now software kit update features clipboardICAS 1.07 and foldatimeICAS 1.03 applications (and source code) for Mac OS X.
clipboardICAS generates a date and time stamp selected by the user. foldatimeICAS generates a folder and file named with designated identifier, date, and time strings.
use clipboardICAS and foldatimeICAS to organize workflows with ICAS (Integrated Chronological Applications System) formats for expressing dates and times. ICAS formatted expressions can be sorted once for both alphabetical and chronological order without additional data coordination. ICAS formatted expressions can also be readily truncated and expanded for designated formats.
*ICAS develops a metric paradigm for representing calendar and clock formats for more practicable representations of time data. Because ICAS scale formats are easy to write and clear to read, ICAS standards can accommodate usable improvements in ways that people can process time and date information. Visit AAT ICAS Itinica at 'http://www.aatideas.org/iota/0.xht' for the most current aatideas.org localization of the Integrated Chronological Applications System.
4) AAT special topics*—environmental initiatives
Browse the environmental topics page for links to initiatives promoting environmental values.
*Look to the special topics area of the aatideas web for convenient links to various sites across the Internet that are involved in certain initiatives related to developments in technology.
5) a focus on progress*—value of green
A green attitude doesn't cost any money, yet can save a great deal of limited resources. A green business model is an efficient economic model for managing and for developing limited resources. A green economy means more and not less limited resources.
*In each issue of aatideas in Brief, a focus on progress examines selected strategies and examples concerning the applicable development and use of technologies. To contribute or to guest edit, send an e mail to AAT.
6) AAT membership*—environmental awareness month
To raise awareness of and to promote good environmental practices, AAT commemorates the fourth uniform month D, of even leap year UCN 12008 (UCA 2008), days 091-120 (AD 2008 March 31 Monday to April 29 Tuesday), as environmental awareness month.
Take some time every month to get informed and to plan ahead for a greener economy for a greener environment. Use your power as a consumer to make purchasing decisions that account for a greener environment.
*Look to the 'about AAT' area of the aatideas.org for more information about AAT programs to develop quality educational programming for members and other interested parties. Membership or volunteer activities can be structured to provide development of skills and experience.
