ICAS digital interface design guidelines
this document describes AAT ICAS guidelines for developing an ICAS digital interface. developers should consider design of a digital interface in terms of format and character elements derived from the aaticas namespace (AAT ICAS 3030, -3140, -3141, -3142, and -3143) specifications.
a non-exhaustive list of design issues for the development of digital interfaces include:
- legibility and clarity of display
- formatting of display: the selection and arrangement of particular units to be represented by a format.
- representation of local time designation
- identifiability: is interface readily identifiable as an ICAS interface?
- determination of use processes: the integration of modes, features, and functions.
- user-control: integration of functions for time-setting, mode-changes, and so forth.
- determination of interface components: integration of interface(s) to system; for example, is digital interface to be superimposed onto an analog interface?
- functionality: development and testing of interface in support of usable-design and ICAS conformance.
