IDC radialSMH analog interface specification

this document describes AAT ICAS design specifications for the IDC radialSMH analog interface. ICAS IDC radialSMH is a special implementation of the radialSMH analog interface (please reference AAT ICAS 2190-IDC radialSMH analog interface specification).

dial identification

a dialSMH interface may be represented by any of the following: 'dialHour', 'Hour', 'dialXIITwice', 'dialAMPM', 'dialXXIV', 'dialSMH', 'SMH', and so forth.

top

dial indices

a dialSMH interface should incorporate a system of 60 indices consistent with AAT ICAS 2190-IDC radialSMH analog interface specification.

unit phasing

a dialSMH interface should incorporate a system of unit phasing consistent with AAT ICAS 2190-IDC radialSMH analog interface specification. all units are phased to the top indice ('12') at both 00:00 midnight and at 12:00 noon and rotate at the following rates:

table 2195.2 ✧ unit phasing of radialSMH interface

clock unit phasing rate
clock unit phasing rate
major unit major unit phase advances 1 major-unit segment (indicating 1 hour) upon completion of minor unit phase.
completion of the major pointer cycle increments a 12-hour cycle from midnight to noon, or from noon to midnight.
minor unit minor unit phase advances 1 minor unit segment upon completion of subminor unit phase.
completion of minor unit phase advances major unit phase 1 major unit segment.
subminor unit subminor unit advances 1 subminor segment every at every 1-second interval.
completion of subminor unit phase advances minor unit phase 1 minor unit segment.

particular pointers may rotate continuously or incrementally. please reference AAT ICAS 2210-IDC interface timesetting specifications for additional information.
