reference of effective version

the AAT ICAS Basilicum specifications replace the ICAS Agave set of documents. for purposes concerning ICAS conformance, pre-existing references to AAT ICAS Agave documents are subject to the effective ICAS Basilicum standards.

effective versions of ICAS should be referenced as needed in terms of an appropriate format as specified below. an ICAS effective date may also be referenced in an appropriate format. the date of a review of ICAS version activity may also be referenced provided that an appropriate ICAS version is referenced. to ensure the use of effective ICAS standards, ICAS licensees are strongly encouraged to reference an ICAS version review date in the quality system used for managing ICAS licensee documentation. prior versions of ICAS must not be referenced without a reference to the effective version.

reference of standards documents

provided that information about an effective version of AAT ICAS is sufficiently introduced (such as in a version or document note), AAT ICAS standards documents can be referenced by ICAS licensees.

please note that, wherever consistent with best practices for ICAS, the content of ICAS standards documents should be regarded as independent of the style guidelines or style rules applied to ICAS standards by AAT ICAS.

AAT ICAS standards documents (and any content inclusive) are structured for reference by the resource identifier such as 'AAT ICAS', and the 4-digit document number elements. the use of particular punctuation or formatting is optional. the use of a document subject description is optional. an alphabetical version specifier may be included for references for which it is preferable to reference specific version activity. however standards for which the reference is deemed to be stable may omit a reference to an alphabetical version specifier.

specific content of AAT ICAS standards documents may also be referenced in terms of the following schemes of organization:

section numbering beginning with first section heading for a document; content unit numbering behinning with the first heading, paragraph, indented paragraph, table, or figure for a section. the title and legend notes also comprise a single content unit. tables and figures are counted as one content unit heading inclusive. white space and navigational features are not counted as content units. content numbering is specified to 2 numerical places unless there are more than 100 content units for a section, for which 3 numerical places are specified.

alphabetical ordering for documents more easily referenced by vocabulary expressions: vocabulary or index documents.
